I spent years doubting if my writing was good enough, unsure and unfulfilled. From a lifelong dream of writing professionally to navigating the uncertainty of a nomadic life, I yearned to tell impactful global stories. Faced with the challenges of an anti-Black media industry, I scoured the internet for answers, leading me to a pivotal moment: contributing to POPSUGAR and embarking on my writing journey. With each byline, I gained the confidence to send pitches, eventually securing a place among multi-award-winning travel and food journalists, recognized by prestigious organizations and featured in top publications.

The story of my life has long been about helping Black people get free. My work, whether through workshops or writing, is rooted in liberation, education, and truth-telling. It's about paying homage to our ancestry and shaping a future where our stories are heard and valued.
Today, my life's work revolves around writing stories that inspire us to live more liberated lives and helping Black women do the same. My stories have appeared in top publications like Conde Nast Traveler, BBC Travel, and Fodoors Travel.

I approach everything in my life through the lens of Black liberation. It shows up in my everyday interactions, relationships, business, and, most importantly, in the work. It shows up on the page. Writing in the spirit of freedom goes beyond just shouting out Black businesses. Instead, it is a framework from which I and those I teach approach writing steeped in our truth, history, and culture.
There has always been room for storytelling in the revolution. Your words are needed in the move toward the liberated future we imagine.
I believe that Black people are natural storytellers. Historically, we come from griots and poets, aunties, and grandmothers who gathered us around family tables, always with a story ready to tell. This legacy of using our words to connect, remember, and pay homage inspires me to write and teach others what I know about how we can and will continue shaping worlds with our words.
There has always been power and impact in the stories we tell. I’ll help you wield words into a literary legacy.
As a grieving daughter (RIP Daddy), I've felt the power of remembrance deeply. It's in the photo albums we flip through, just trying to hold on to half-forgotten memories. It's in the bites we savor for a chew too long. It's in the stories we tell about the people and the places we've made homes of. Writing your legacy is about remembering your way back to the ancestral storytelling ways we've always known.
